WHO: Document Sciences Corporation and Edgewater Technology announce
that Randall L. James, Senior Vice President and Chief
Information Officer of Americo Life, will discuss,
"Re-assembling the Policy Assembly Process," at this year's
ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum conference being held
May 23 - 25, 2004 at the Paris/Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas.
Randall James recently completed his 5th year as Senior Vice
President and Chief Information Officer of Americo Life, Inc.,
a privately-held, international, multibillion-dollar life
insurance holding company. Americo Life, Inc. manages total
assets of more than $4.3 billion, and provides over $44
billion of life insurance protection to 850,000 policyholders.
He was recognized by Computerworld as one of the Premier 100
IT leaders for 2004.
WHAT: In a case study format, Mr. Randall L. James will explain
how the company streamlined its policy and correspondence
creation and print processes by implementing an automated
content processing solution after thoroughly examining and
mapping their internal workflow processes. Americo changed its
business processes by eliminating manual tasks, moving
responsibility to its end-users and eliminating redundant
software tools. Mr. James led the complete redevelopment of
the technology infrastructure, including migration to a server
based computing model that reduced the number of devices
requiring support by a factor of 30 to 1, consolidation of 3
data centers, the implementation of Americo's industry leading
point of sale electronic application system, implementation of
business intelligence systems for real-time sales reporting,
extensive use of document imaging and workflow technology,
electronic capture of all mainframe generation information,
and deployment of a state of the art phone system and call
center. Mr. James will discuss the advantages of implementing
a scalable solution architecture built on open standards,
integrated with existing admin systems and legacy data.
Through the impact of this reengineering effort, Americo
projects first year savings alone of approximately $450,000.
