WHAT: City Librarian Susan Kent will open the American Originals:
Treasure From the National Archives exhibit for the first time
to the public. Central Library will host the only West Coast
stop of the exhibit, a collection of documents that changed the
course of our country's history. Selected pieces include the
Louisiana Purchase Treaty, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and
Germany's Surrender in World War II.
Exhibit debuts on the 10th anniversary of the Central Library's
re-opening after two devastating 1986 arson fires.
