What: Dain Blanton and Rachel Wacholder, players for the
Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) tour, will
appear live at Best Buy in Torrance to sign autographs for
fans.
In 1997, Blanton became the first African American pro beach
volleyball player in the history of the sport to win a major
title. More recently, he won a gold medal in the 2000 Sydney
Olympics, with partner Eric Fonoimoana.
Wacholder and partner Nancy Mason took two third and two
fifth place finishes in 2002. She has been in two AVP
finals, and has placed in numerous tournaments and events,
including the Beach Volleyball World Tour in Brazil.
Blanton and Wacholder will compete in the Manhattan Beach
Open August 7 - 10. Best Buy is also teaming with LG
Electronics to set up a display at the tournament
showcasing LG laundry systems.
