WHAT: NEWS CONFERENCE/Introduction of the Honorees at the
Third Annual New York Gala Awards held that night at
the Rainbow Room, NYC. The Awards, presented by
Global Green USA -- the US affiliate of Green Cross
International -- recognize advancements in policy
(Government of Iceland, Senators Nunn and Lugar),
building (HOK), media (Bill Moyers and Judith
Davidson Moyers) and organization (Pew Center on
Global Climate Change) that forward the design of
a sustainable and secure world. Honorees present
will take Q&A on their environmental work and
projects.
Mikhail S. Gorbachev will pose for a photo
opportunity with the honorees and will then take
Q&A on the issues he advocated for in Washington
on April 24 when addressing members of Congress,
leading activists, and Russian experts regarding
initiatives on nuclear nonproliferation and control
of weapons of mass destruction.
The former Soviet President will also discuss the
issue of climate change, following the letter to
President Bush he co-signed with President Jimmy
Carter, Stephen Hawking, Jane Goodall, Harrison Ford
and others in Time Magazine.
