WHAT: Finalists from six Power Hitter Competition and Clinics,
co-sponsored by the LADWP and the Los Angeles Dodgers, will
compete at Dodger Stadium in a championship hitting
competition. Kids ages 6-14 will have three chances to hit a
baseball from home plate. The child who hits the ball the
farthest and most accurate in his or her age group (6-8, 9-11,
12-14) wins a trophy and will be honored before the September
25 Dodger game.

WHY: This is the final contest of the Fifth Annual Power Hitter
Competition and Clinic, co-sponsored by the Los Angeles
Department of Water and Power and Los Angeles Dodgers. The
clinics were conducted this summer at Los Angeles area
recreation and parks centers. This event is one of many the
LADWP sponsors to demonstrate its commitment to the community
it serves and the children of Los Angeles. Other events
include the Community Salute at Dodger Stadium and Dodger Jams
programs at Los Angeles middle schools.
