Frisbee-Catching Dogs Will Draw a Crowd to Playa Vista's "Premiere
Weekend," Sept. 20 and 21
WHAT: Playa Vista is holding the largest community open house
in recent Los Angeles city history. A huge celebration --
20 years in the making -- happens Sept. 20 and 21 at
Playa Vista, Los Angeles' most exciting new urban
community and the first Westside community built in the
last half-century. Open to the public, Playa Vista's
Premiere Weekend will showcase:
-- Tours of model homes -- Urban gardening demonstrations
-- Open air concerts -- Freshwater marsh tours
-- Art exhibit (Roberto Gutierrez) -- Model airplane exhibit
-- Test ride GEM electric cars -- Children's Museum exhibit
-- Frisbee-catching dogs -- Home technology exhibit

BACKGROUND: Situated on 1,086 acres between Marina del Rey and
Westchester, just about a mile from the beach, Playa
Vista is adding critically needed housing on Los Angeles'
Westside, near where people work. Designed in a variety
of architectural styles and built for today's lifestyles,
the new residences are priced to appeal to a broad
cross-section of buyers and renters. Mixed into this
balanced community is commercial, retail and hundreds of
acres of restored wetlands and open space. Electronic
Arts, the leading video-game maker, will be moving into
its new studio at Playa Vista in the coming months,
eventually bringing 1,000 jobs to Los Angeles.
