ACTRESS BLYTHE DANNER Blythe Katherine Danner, born February 3, 1943 in Philadelphia, United States, is an Emmy and Tony Award winning American actress. She is also the mother of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.  TO SPEAK ABOUT INTERNATIONAL

FAMILY PLANNING family planning

Use of measures designed to regulate the number and spacing of children within a family, largely to curb population growth and ensure each family’s access to limited resources.

WHAT: Actress Blythe Danner, local activist Constance Rice, and leading
advocates for women, children and the environment are coming together to
increase awareness among the Seattle community about the importance of
international family planning. This lecture centers around the Annie Leibovitz:
Women exhibit, which looks at the status of women at the beginning of the new
millennium. Studies have found that international family planning has a
dramatic impact on the lives of women worldwide. However, 150 million married
women in the developing world want to plan their families, but lack the means
to do so. When given access to family planning services, most couples choose to
delay childbirth, space their pregnancies apart and have smaller families.
This, in turn, helps save women's and children's lives and eases the intense
pressure on the Earth's natural resources, improving the prospects for a
healthier environment for us all. WHEN: Friday, November 16, 2001: 6:30 pm:
