He became famous as the 1973 NASCAR Winston Cup (now NEXTEL Cup) champion.  and Cale Yarborough William Caleb "Cale" Yarborough (born March 27, 1940 in Timmonsville, South Carolina, near the Famous Darlington Raceway), is a businessman and former NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver and owner. He is the only driver in NASCAR history to win three consecutive championships. . Petty also helped current No. 43 driver John Andretti unveil the new one-time paint scheme featured on the Wheaties/STP Pontiac that Andretti will race in the upcoming Winston Select on May 20 at the Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte.
