WHAT: Sam Goody brings World Wrestling Federation Champion, Kurt
Angle, to Sears Court at Mall of America to autograph his new
book, It's True! It's True!
WHO: Kurt Angle greeted the world with his gold-medal performance
at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta where he won the
220-pound freestyle wrestling competition. In 2000, he greeted
the world again, only this time as a rookie in the World
Wrestling Federation.
Angle is the only World Wrestling Federation Superstar with an
Olympic gold medal. His rookie year in the Federation was
arguably the best year for any Superstar in the Federation's
history. He began by winning the European and Intercontinental
Titles and proceeded to win the 2000 "King of the Ring
Tournament." But the highlight of his year came on November
22, 2000, when Angle, "The American Hero," defeated "The Rock"
and captured the World Wrestling Federation Championship.
