Contest With Concerts Featuring Blessid Union of Souls Blessid Union of Souls is an American rock band from Cincinnati that was formed in 1990 by Jeff Pence and Eliot Sloan. The current touring band members are singer Eliot Sloan (original member), bassist Tony Clark (original member), drummer Shaun Schaefer (Vinyltones), and guitarist , Eve 6 and The Go-Go's WHAT: The Bandemonium Spring Break event is the culmination of Sam Goody's sixth annual search for the best unsigned band in the country. On March 21, the bands will compete at the world famous Spinnaker Beach Club in Panama City, Florida - one of the most popular Spring Break destinations in the world. By the end of the night, one hard-working band will be crowned the "Best Unsigned Band of 2001" in front of thousands of vacationing students. -- Lift (Atlanta), Mark Needs a Chick (Houston), Meaningless Tag (Philadelphia) and SpaZjack (Hartford, CT) beat out more than 500 other bands to perform at the Bandemonium Spring Break event. Three of the four finalists were selected from a pool of 10 semifinalists by representatives from SFX, the world's leading promoter, producer and presenter of live entertainment. With more than 400,000 online votes cast, the fourth band was elected with 54.9 percent of votes to compete at the final event. -- The bands will open for national headliners Blessid Union of Souls and Eve 6. The winner will return the next night to open for the world famous all-female superstars, The Go-Go's. The winner also receives a prize package worth more than $20,000 including cash, studio time to work on a professional demo tape, a producer to help channel their talents into a more marketable product and a new Gibson music equipment (guitars, basses, drums, amps and more).
