WHAT: Country music star Lee Ann Womack is slated to appear at Sam
Goody Central on Saturday, August 31, where she will perform
and autograph copies of her new album, Something Worth Leaving
Behind.
WHO: Born in Jacksonville, Texas, Lee Ann Womack became infatuated
with music at an early age. In 1990 she settled in Nashville
where she began performing her own showcase concerts and
singing on songwriting demos.
In 1995 she was spotted by Tree Publishing at one of her
showcases and was signed as a permanent staff writer. By 1997,
Womack released her self-titled, debut album. Shortly after
its release the album reached platinum status.
In 1998, Womack was awarded CMA's Vocalist of the Year award
after her second album release, Something's I Know. I Hope You
Dance was released in 2000 and gave Womack the opportunity to
sing at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and the Orange Bowl.
Something Worth Leaving Behind will be released nationally on
August 20, and contains hit singles "Something Worth Leaving
Behind" and "When You Gonna Run To Me."
