WHO: Best remembered as one-fifth of the eighties heartthrob group
New Kids on the Block, Joey McIntyre became one of the biggest
teen idols of the decade. He was just 13 years old when he
joined New Kids in 1985, less than three years later the
group's music topped music charts everywhere. By 1991, the
group even topped Forbes magazine's list of highest-paid
entertainers.
Following the group's demise in 1994, released his first solo
album titles "Stay the Same" in 1999. Popularity of the
album's title track of the same name spread quickly and in the
end, the album and single both went gold.
McIntyre's latest album, "Meet Joe Mac," has a more organic
sound than his past work featuring a host of instruments from
acoustic and electric guitars to symphonic strings and the
occasional harmonica.
Most recently, McIntyre was featured in People magazine (6/22
issue) as one of "America's Top 50 Bachelors." In addition, he
can be found in the fashion spread of Playboy magazine (July
issue). McIntyre also will appear on the "Top of the Charts"
edition of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" which is scheduled
to air at the end of July.
