What: Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Mays will sign
autographs and have his picture taken with fans at the Best
Buy store in Coon Rapids on Monday, August 26 at 7 p.m.
After spending most of the 2002 season sidelined with an elbow
injury, Mays returned to his masterful form on August 16 by
outpitching Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez in a 5-0 victory over
Boston at the Metrodome. Mays was injured in last week's start
against the Chicago White Sox after getting hit on the right
thumb by a batted ball, but is expected to make his next
scheduled start on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners.
In 2001, Mays led the Twins rotation in wins (17), ERA (3.16)
and innings pitched (233.2) and made his first All-Star
appearance.
