WHAT: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is slated to sign autographs of her
new book Shattered Mirror, at the Scary Story Contest in Ames
Plaza Media Play.
WHO: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is a 17-year-old author who writes
vampire novels. She published her first book In the Forests of
the Night at the age of 14, and at the age of 16, her second
novel, Demon in My View, was published. She was named one of
Teen People's 20 Teens Who Will Change the World, and has also
made appearances on the Rosie O'Donnell Show, CBS Saturday
Morning and CNN NewsStand.
The Scary Story Contest invites area school children in grades
6-9 to participate in an essay contest. Students will submit a
500-1500 word essay, which will be judged by area teachers.
The winning writer of the contest will receive a $100 gift
card to Media Play. The remaining essays will be entered into
a drawing, where Amelia Atwater-Rhodes will draw four names
and they will each win $25 gift cards to Media Play.
