WHAT: "America's Tenor" Daniel Rodriguez is slated to appear at
Sam Goody Central where he will perform and autograph copies
of his debut album The Spirit of America.
WHO: Daniel Rodriguez, a member of the New York Police Department,
came to national attention shortly after the 9/11 attacks when
former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani introduced him at
a New York Yankees game where Rodriguez sang the National
Anthem.
Shortly after, Rodriguez signed a recording contract with
Manhattan Records and released his debut album, The Spirit of
America. The album is currently #1 on Billboard's Classical
Crossover chart outselling artists such as Andrea Bocelli and
Charlotte Church.
Rodriguez has recently stirred television audiences with
appearances on The Today Show, Live with Regis & Kelly, and
the Late Show with David Letterman. He has also performed at
the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
Rodriguez's debut album went on sale nationally February 12,
2002.
