The most crucial part of the clinical trial process involves source data, the original records of clinical findings, observations or other activities in a clinical trial necessary for the reconstruction of that trial. eSource data, or data captured initially into a persistent electronic form, optimizes the clinical trial process by eliminating transcription errors and in the end, shortening the length of the trial. In eTrials, or electronic clinical trials, using eSource documentation, information is collected, exchanged, analyzed, submitted, and archived electronically, thereby fully enhancing the clinical trial process. At today's IIR Conference on Electronic Data Capture, PHT Corporation's Stephen A. Raymond, Ph.D. along with CDISC president, Rebecca D. Kush, Ph.D. propose an improved capability to promote and execute the eSource trial. Both share experiences and expertise in implementing industry standards to improve data quality and accelerate product development. Their joint presentation focuses on the process, impact, standards, and benefits of making eSource an integral part of the clinical trial process.
