ADVISORY/One Church, One School Expands to West Coast; Northern and Southern California CME Churches Embrace Partnership With Local Area Schools.Business Editors/Education Writers ADVISORY...for Friday (Dec. 13) --(BUSINESS WIRE)
WHO: Bishop Henry M. Williamson Sr., 52nd bishop of the
Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and presiding
prelate of the California region, will stand with
approximately 75 pastors to announce the West Coast
launch of the highly successful "One Church, One
School" program.
WHAT: One Church, One School was founded in 1992 in
Chicago, Illinois by Williamson to match the
church's resources with the school's needs. The
program successfully met with principals, parents,
pupils, police, professionals, politicians, and
community people to partner with over 100 schools in
Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Gary, ID; Denver, CO;
Kansas City, MO; St. Louis, MO; and Decatur, IL.
They discussed the barriers to quality education and
set realistic goals to help children attain higher

is down in urban communities," Williamson stated,
"it's time to take the village to the school."
