WHAT: Nominations are now open for the "2001 Los Angeles
Technology Fast 50," which ranks the fastest growing technology
companies in the Los Angeles area.
WHO: Winners are selected based on the percentage of growth in
revenues in a five-year period (1996-2000). To be considered
for the Fast 50, entrants must meet the following criteria:
-- Have revenues of at least $50,000 in 1996, and at least $1
million in 2000.
-- Be headquartered in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside,
Ventura, or Santa Barbara county. Subsidiaries and divisions
are not eligible, unless they have some public ownership and
are separately traded.
-- Be "technology companies," specifically defined as companies
that produce technology, manufacture a technology-related
product, are technologically intensive, use technology in
problem-solving, or devote a high percentage of effort to
research and development of technology.
"Rising Star" winners will also be chosen based on the percentage
of growth in revenues for just three years, from 1998-2000. All
U.S.-based Fast 50 companies will automatically be entered in the
Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500
fastest growing technology companies in North America.
HOW: Companies can nominate themselves or be nominated by a third
party. Winners are determined by Deloitte & Touche based on a
detailed review of qualifying nominations related to revenue
growth over the five-year period.
WHEN: Nominations are due by May 15. Winners will be announced at
an awards dinner at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles
on September 19.
