Business Editors/Political Writers

ADVISORY...for Saturday (Sept. 20)

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2003

Singer/Songwriter Don McLean Headlines Musical Program

With the International Trade Commission due to deliver its mid-term review of steel tariffs This is a list of tariffs and trade legislation:
  • List of tariffs in Canada
  • List of tariffs in United States
  • List of tariffs in India
  • List of tariffs in China
  • List of tariffs in Russia
to President Bush Friday, members of the tri-state community will rally in Pittsburgh and urge the President to preserve manufacturing jobs by keeping his steel tariffs in place.

WHAT: Tri-State Rally for Steel and American Manufacturing,
featuring a "Backbone of America Concert" starring Don McLean

WHEN: Saturday, September 20, gates open at 9 a.m., rally begins at
        noon

WHERE: Hartwood Acres, Pittsburgh, PA (directions below)

WHO: Governor Ed Rendell; U.S. Representatives Mike Doyle, Melissa
Hart and Tim Murphy; Leo W. Gerard, President, United
Steelworkers of America Wilbur Ross, Chairman and CEO, W.L.
Ross & Co. (International Steel Group); John Surma, President
        and COO, United States Steel

WHY: The President's steel program is working. Since the tariffs
were put in place 18 months ago, billions have been invested,
companies are consolidating and labor and management are
creating innovative partnerships to ensure productivity gains.
Steel prices in the U.S. are among the lowest in the world and
steel is readily available. The industry has made good
progress, but significant work remains over the next 18
        months.
