Join this group of New York City Firefighters and New York City Policemen, including Fire Department Chaplain Father John Delendick, at a press conference prior to their departure on a humanitarian mission to Kabul, Afghanistan. Dubbed "The Spirit of America Ground Zero to Ground Zero Airlift," this envoy will depart Tuesday, December 18 at 3 PM from "Ground Zero" at the World Trade Center site, and will deliver cargo of food, blankets and other emergency supplies to the people of Afghanistan. This mission marks the first time that members of New York City's uniformed emergency services will visit the war zone. In addition to delivering much-needed relief supplies, including 90,000 lbs of cooking oil, rice, powdered milk, and blankets, the firefighters and police officers will meet with US troops in Kabul. |
