The Chamber's Institute for Legal Reform will launch a coalition to combat global forum shipping - a new litigation An action brought in court to enforce a particular right. The act or process of bringing a lawsuit in and of itself; a judicial contest; any dispute. When a person begins a civil lawsuit, the person enters into a process called litigation. trend in which foreign plaintiffs take advantage of the American judicial system to file lawsuits in U.S. courts - during the conference. The Global Forum Shopping Forum shopping is the informal name given to the practice adopted by some litigants to get their legal case heard in the court thought most likely to provide a favorable judgment. Coalition will work to convince U.S. courts to show self-restraint in interpreting laws with cross-border issues and it will push for adoption of an international agreement on jurisdiction. There are three global forum shopping-related cases now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court: Sosa v. Alvarez-Machain; Intel Corp. v. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., and F. Hoffman-LaRoche, Ltd., et al. v. Empagran, S.A. The keynote lunch will feature Paul Clement Paul Drew Clement (born June 1966) is the current United States Solicitor General. He was nominated by President George W. Bush on March 14 2005, confirmed by the United States Senate on June 8 2005, and took the oath of office on June 13.
