ADVISORY/Nationwide Drive to Help Foster Care Kids Nets Single-Day Record for Adoptions.News/Lifestyles Editors ADVISORY...for Saturday (Nov. 18) --(BUSINESS WIRE)
WHAT: "National Adoption Day." Local law firms, foster care
departments, child advocates and family courts will
coordinate a one-day record finalizing over 1,000 adoptions
during the first National Adoption Day. Nearly 700 foster care
adoptions will be completed in Los Angeles. Other cities
participating include Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, El Paso, Ft.
Worth, New York, Omaha and Washington D.C.
WHO: The Alliance for Children's Rights, in partnership with the
Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Freddie Mac
Foundation, is spearheading this effort. Los Angeles Mayor
Richard Riordan and Mrs. Daly Riordan will speak at the news
conference. Joining in the National Adoption Day efforts in
other cities are Rosie O'Donnell and New York Mayor Rudolf
Giuliani.
