WHAT: Will lead media on a tour to unveil the "Healthy Day in the
Neighborhood" Health Pavilion, an interactive, informational
exhibit at the National Urban League's 2003 Annual Conference.
The National Urban League, University of Pittsburgh Graduate
School of Public Health's Center for Minority Health, UPMC and
GlaxoSmithKline partnered to present the largest health fair
of its kind in Pittsburgh and Urban League annual conference
history as a way to bring attention to the issue of health
disparities in urban communities.
Sponsored by UPMC and GlaxoSmithKline, the Pavilion is a
15,000 square foot health and information fair featuring
dozens of exhibitors and activities, including free health
screenings, "Ask the Doctor" sessions with UPMC physicians,
and a replica of a barbershop and beauty salon, which is a
target project of the CMH to disseminate health information to
African Americans.
The Health Pavilion will be open to the public Saturday, July
26 through Tuesday, July 29.

Immediately following the Health Pavilion tour, media are
invited to attend the Annual Conference Grand Opening and
Ribbon Cutting at 12:00 p.m., featuring National Urban League
President and CEO Marc H. Morial, Pittsburgh Urban League
President and CEO Esther Bush, and annual conference co-chairs
PNC and Office Depot.
