What: The Resource Area for Teachers is a nonprofit organization
that collects reusable materials from more than 1000 Silicon Valley
companies and provides them to teachers to use in their classrooms.
RAFT will have its warehouse of treasures open 6 days a week ready to
help teachers prepare for the beginning of school.
Why: Relying on limited school funds, teachers often dip into
their own wallets to provide curriculum materials for their students.
At RAFT, they can buy sacks full of useful items for pennies on the
dollar. RAFT also holds ongoing project demonstrations and offers
curriculum based workshops that show teachers how to get creative with
seemingly mundane material. With RAFT's support, teachers are able to
implement hands-on learning activities for their students at a
fraction of the normal cost.
