11:00 AM - Presentation of computers to 200 students participating
in the Design & Technology in Schools program at the Umana Barnes
Middle School in East Boston, a City Year beneficiary. The program
exposes students to the fields of technology and 3-D digital design,
and fosters creativity, critical thinking, and technological literacy.
By providing the Umana Barnes Middle School with state-of-the-art
computers, custom configured to meet the needs of this program, Sayers
allows teachers and after-school staff the freedom to incorporate
technology into their current curricula and engage kids in a course of
study previously unavailable to them.
4:00 PM - Inspirational address to City Year's Volunteer Corps. on
Boston Common. Sayers will discuss issues relating to diversity,
perseverance, drive, competition and loyalty - traits exhibited
through Sayers' friendship with fellow Chicago Bear Brian Piccolo and
made famous in the television movie Brian's Song. A private screening
of the movie will be held for all Volunteer Corps members prior to his
arrival. Sayers will answer questions from the Volunteer Corps until
5:00 PM.
Sayers has been expanding his Massachusetts business for years,
