industry will be presented by Tom Reynolds, Director of Technology for
Murata Electronics North America, Inc. at this year's Capacitor and
Resistor Technology Symposium (CARTS) seminar. His presentation,
Advancements in Passive Components: Ceramic Capacitors and the
Integration of Components will focus on ceramic capacitors and the key
role they play in wireless and electronic products.

      Why: In the area of passive components, there are a number of
advancements continuing to push the state-of-the-art envelope. Coupled
with the evolution to smaller sizes (eg. 0402 and 0201), the bulk
cassette becomes more attractive when pricing is taken into
consideration. At the other end of the spectrum, the technology
continues to expand the capacitance range available and offer MLCC
alternatives to tantalum capacitors. Low equivalent series inductance
is an increasing important parameter in capacitors designed to deliver
charge to high-speed microprocessors.
      CARTS is an international event which provides the components
engineer and designer with current data and information on capacitors,
resistors, and other passive components. The symposium also provides
technical papers on applications, reliability, testing, design and
processes plus seminars on passive technology and market analysis by
experts in their respective fields.
