What: These two Chicago personalities are teaming up to raise money
for Misericordia Candy Days, now in its 19th year. In
return for donations for Misericordia, the duo will
distribute JBz chocolate candies by Jelly Belly. Mike Ditka
has been a longtime friend to Misericordia; he was given the
Heart of Mercy Award -- the charity's top honor -- in 1986.
Bill Rancic's family has supported Misericordia for many
years.
When: Friday, April 30, at 8 p.m.
Where: Mike Ditka's Restaurant
100 East Chestnut in Chicago
Why: Misericordia, which was founded in 1921, supports 560
children and adults with mild to profound developmental
disabilities from all religious, racial and socio-economic
backgrounds. This year, Misericordia must raise $8 million
for costs not covered by the State of Illinois.
Additionally, Misericordia has moved forward with new
construction projects in order to welcome some of the 500+
individuals on its waiting list.
