WHAT: Metropolitan Water District, in cooperation with Urban
Park Concessionaires, make first major plant of
"catchable" trout at Diamond Valley Lake, Southern
California's newest and largest reservoir near Hemet in
southwest Riverside County.
WHEN: About 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11
WHERE: East marina, Diamond Valley Lake near Hemet in southwest
Riverside County. The marina's entrance is off Searl
Parkway along Domenigoni Parkway. Map/driving directions

BACKGROUND: Up to 3,600 pounds of Rainbow Trout will be delivered to
Metropolitan's Diamond Valley Lake for stocking. Most
of the fish, which are coming from the Mt. Lassen Trout
Farm outside Redding in Northern California, are in the
1-pound class, with 10 percent between 3 and 10 pounds.
The fish plant is one of several regular stockings
Metropolitan plans at the lake, which opened to the
public for fishing and boating in early October. The
fish in Thursday's planned plant were purchased by Urban
Park Concessionaires, which Metropolitan contracted to
oversee marina and fishing operations, with the fishing
access fees paid by DVL visitors.
