presides over real-life cases on the reality courtroom show Judge
Judy, will be the featured speaker at the Nova Southeastern
University Luncheon Forums.
WHEN: Wednesday, October 21, 1998 -- A buffet lunch will be served
promptly at 12:15 p.m. and Judge Judy will speak from 1 to
1:30 p.m.
WHERE: The Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel, 1825 Griffin Road,

BACKGROUND
INFORMATION: Renowned as a tough but fair judge in New York's family
court, Sheindlin retired from the bench in 1996 and segued to
television, bringing her trademark wit and wisdom to viewers
inside an actual courtroom where justice is dispensed at
lightning speed. Judge Judy's career in family court began in
1972 when she prosecuted juvenile delinquency cases for the State
of New York. She knew right away she had found her calling,
quickly developing a reputation as a sharp, no-nonsense lawyer.
In 1982, Mayor Ed Koch appointed her as a judge in family court.
