ADVISORY/Media Availability of Consumer Advocate David Horowitz.News/Entertainment Editors ADVISORY...for Monday Monday: see week. (March 13) --(BUSINESS WIRE)
WHO: David Horowitz, the Emmy-award-winning consumer advocate, known
for his "Fight Back! With David Horowitz" television series,
syndicated newspaper columns, books and radio features. Horowitz
can also be found on the Web at www.fightback.com.
WHAT: According to David Horowitz: New York customers are being ripped
off by Bell Atlantic's monopoly on local phone services. Bell
Atlantic is backsliding on its obligation to open its local phone
lines to competitors in New York. Since Jan. 1, tens of thousands
of customers seeking to leave Bell Atlantic have faced lengthy
delays. Worse, Bell Atlantic has "misplaced" tens of thousands of
orders for local service. Bell Atlantic's appalling inability to
meet its obligations under Section 271 of the Telecom Act, which
requires the company to open its local markets to competition
before it can enter the long distance market, is the latest
chapter in a long history of neglecting customers and delaying
real competition. David Horowitz will be available to immediately
discuss Bell Atlantic's horrendous problems with its OSS or
"switching" systems. "The $13 million fine levied Thursday against
Bell Atlantic doesn't begin to make up for the problems and
inconveniences suffered by Bell Atlantic customers," Horowitz
said.
WHEN: Horowitz is available immediately for interviews or talk show
appearances. Horowitz will be able to answer questions from the
host or a call-in audience.
