Mayor Jim Hahn will host Los Angeles's first Homeland Security Leadership Summit, which will convene CONVENE, civil law. This is a technical term, signifying to bring an action.  mayors and homeland security experts from across the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  to discuss the challenges in funding, urban area security, healthcare, communication, and technology issues related to homeland security. During the summit, Mayor Hahn will release a study by the U.S. Conference of Mayors on homeland security funding.
