             Walter B. Hill, Jr. will officially open public viewing
             of original pages from the Emancipation Proclamation,
             part of the American Originals: Treasures From the
             National Archives exhibit, a collection of 25 National
             Archives documents on view at the Getty Gallery until
             January 4, 2004

             Board of Library Commissioners President Lucy McCoy

WHEN:        8 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2003
             Remarks to begin at 9 a.m.

WHERE:       Central Library, Annenberg Gallery,
             630 W. 5th St., Los Angeles

PHOTOGRAPHY: Photos will be permitted, but please refrain from using
             flashes or artificial lighting, as the documents are very
             fragile. High-speed film is recommended for low-light
             conditions. Images of many of the documents can be
             requested by calling the media contact listed above.
