classroom discovery while encouraging kids to have fun while

learning.

Citing indifference as one of the biggest obstacles to

children's thriving in Washington, it calls for public and

private institutions to work together to find solutions and

new opportunities for kids.

Washington Mutual's new initiative is one way the community

can band together and support a broad number of children

through existing programs that enrich school curriculum.

FYI: This is NOT your typical press conference. Sure, a couple of executives
will make a few remarks, but then we'll turn it over to the kids, who will use
creative means to explain why this initiative is so important to support. Some
kids will sing their remarks, others will be dressed up as the rain forest. The
program will end with a bang when one student conducts an explosive science
experiment (goggles required for those in front).
