Wyland Robert Wyland (born. 1956 in Detroit, Michigan), known simply as Wyland, is an artist best known for painting large, outdoor murals of whales and other ocean life.

He grew up in Madison Heights, Michigan and attended Lamphere High School.

WHAT:   Four major American artists will create new original artworks
        during a live painting exhibition at Wyland Galleries. The
        artists will discuss their work and background, and give the
        public a rare, up-close glimpse into their painting
        techniques. The newly created original art works will be
        auctioned at the end of the event.

WHO:    Artists scheduled for the event include Jim Warren, whose
        surrealist inspired images have appeared on Grammy-winning
        CDs, books and promotions for Universal Studios; San
        Francisco-based artist Walfrido, popular tropical seascape
        artists Dan Mackin and Hawaii-based Steven Power. Previous
        original works by these artists have sold to private
        collectors for as much as $150,000 apiece. The artists will be
        available for photo opportunities and media interviews. Other
        artists include painters John Pitre, James Coleman and William
        DeShazo, and sculptors Scott Hanson and Michael Maiden, who
        will unveil two new sculptures.

WHY:    The live painting event gives the public a chance to see major
        artists creating original artworks. The artists will answer
        questions about their background, styles and techniques during
        the two hour show. This is the only time of year these artists
        appear together.

WHEN:   Thursday, Aug. 15, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

WHERE:  Wyland Galleries, 1025 Prospect St., Suite 100 & 200, La
        Jolla, Calif.

COST:   Free to the public. All are invited. Refreshments will be

AT SEAPORT VILLAGE

WHEN:   Friday, Aug. 16, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

WHERE:  Wyland Galleries, Seaport Village, 855 W. Harbor Drive, Suite
        A, San Diego.

COST:   Free to the public. All are invited. Refreshments will be
