ADVISORY/Majette Makes Special Deliveries For UPS.

ADVISORY...for Tuesday (April 22)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On April 22, U.S. Congresswoman Denise Majette (GA-04) will make two special deliveries for UPS

the first, a $75,000 donation to Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA), and the second, packages to customers and constituents in DeKalb County. Rep. Majette will make the presentation to SOGA on behalf of The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS).

The grant will be used to support the five state competitions conducted annually and will offset the cost of facility rental, equipment purchase, and officials' fees. After the ceremony, Rep. Majette will put on a UPS uniform and accompany a driver as he makes deliveries in DeKalb County.

During the presentation, a Special Olympics athlete will talk to an audience of over 200 UPS drivers and employees about the impact and importance of SOGA, whose goal is to help bring persons with intellectual disabilities into the larger society under conditions whereby they are accepted, respected, and given the chance to become useful and productive citizens. Through successful experiences in sports, athletes gain confidence and build a positive self-image, which carries over into the classroom, the home, the job, and the community. Last year alone, nearly 350 UPS employees in Metro Atlanta volunteered close to 1400 hours with SOGA.

Rep. Majette was chosen to participate in the presentation as part of the UPS Congressional Awareness program, which encourages Members of Congress to visit and tour UPS facilities to learn more about UPS in their district.

        complex (you will enter the driveway AFTER the main entrance
        that has the United Parcel Service sign)

    VISUAL: (1) Congresswoman Majette will ride on a package car with
        a driver. She will be wearing the UPS brown uniform and visor,
        and will make deliveries with the driver. (2) Over 200 package
        car drivers in uniforms will attend the presentation.

    INTERVIEW (1) Pat McDuffie, Special Olympics athlete, is a trained
        speaker who reflects on her OPPORTUNITIES: experiences and the
        impact of Special Olympics Georgia. (2) Rep. Majette will make
        deliveries with a UPS package car driver at South DeKalb Mall
        (2801 Candler Drive). Her last stop will be at approximately
        10:55AM. The package car will be parked in the back of the
        mall.
