(www.luxn.com), the premier provider of intelligent, multi-service, optical access solutions. LuxN will showcase live, interactive demonstrations of its optical network access solutions at the Networld+Interop conference. LuxN's WavSystem(TM) solutions have set new standards for optical network access. With LuxN, local service providers and enterprise companies are now able to cost-effectively extend optical networks from metropolitan points of presence to enterprise customer premises. LuxN's solutions are available today and are being used by customers to experience the benefits of advanced optical-access technology. Offering a new vision of optical access, LuxN is providing the solutions for tomorrow's all-optical Internet. WHAT: LuxN, in conjunction with Riverstone Networks (www.riverstonenet.com), the leader in high-speed metropolitan area network infrastructure, will showcase live data being transmitted across the show floor through optical fiber at Gigabit Ethernet speeds. Using a multimedia video stream, traffic will originate at LuxN's booth (#7933), and be passed to a Riverstone RS 2000 switch router. The Gigabit Ethernet data stream will then go to a LuxN WavStation(TM) for transport across the show floor using approximately 800 feet of single-mode optical fiber. In the Riverstone booth (#4531) the traffic will arrive at a LuxN WavFarer(TM), be passed to a Riverstone 8600 switch router and presented as a multimedia data stream on a video display. In addition, technical presentations of LuxN's ColorSIM(TM) network monitoring solution will be provided in LuxN's (invitation-only) Technology Suite. ColorSIM, integrated into LuxN's WavSystem line of optical access solutions, gives carriers and service providers the ability to continuously monitor each lambda of their network without the need for separate bit error rate testing equipment. It employs a unique, non-intrusive, "wrapperless" methodology that does not tap any portion of the optical power and is bit-rate and protocol independent. WHY: Service providers, as well as enterprise companies, are constantly faced with network challenges - the need for faster speeds, higher bandwidth, data integrity and more. By engaging an optical network, service providers can deliver new, high bandwidth, multi-protocol services while maximizing their optical fiber assets to generate new revenues. Enterprise end-users can dramatically upgrade their public network access performance while enjoying the advantages of using multiple communications protocols such as Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet and/or SONET. In addition to providing unique monitoring capabilities without the need for separate test equipment, ColorSIM provides users the ability to forecast impending problems in their networks so that serious data transmission problems can be avoided. It promises to be an important tool for monitoring Quality of Service (QoS) agreements. WHEN: The Networld+Interop 2000 Conference will be held September 26-28, 2000. The LuxN Optical Network demonstration will be shown live throughout the conference. Technical presentations and demonstrations of LuxN's ColorSIM will be shown by appointment only. WHERE: The Gigabit Ethernet Interoperability demonstration will be shown in LuxN's booth (#7933) and in Riverstone Networks' booth (#4531). Preview LuxN's ColorSIM network monitoring solution in the LuxN Technology Suite at the Omni Hotel, across from the show floor. The Networld+Interop 2000 Conference will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. More information is available online at: http://www.key3media.com/inte rop/atlanta2000/.
