What: "Public Power Week Celebration and Family Festival,"
celebrates the successful partnership between the
community and its public power utility through exhibits,
activities and entertainment for the entire family.
When: Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: LADWP Northridge Service Yard
18718 Rayen St., Northridge
(North of Parthenia, between Reseda and Tampa)
Why: LADWP celebrates Public Power Week to inform the
community about the benefits of public power and raise
awareness of the Department's operations, programs and
services. Through public power, Los Angeles residents and
businesses enjoy lower rates, a commitment to local
communities, public accountability, a customer service
ethic, and other advantages.
Details: Festivities include: raffle of an energy-efficient
refrigerator or other prizes; exhibit booths about energy
efficiency, water conservation, electric safety, Green
Power, solar power, electric vehicles and other LADWP and
City of Los Angeles programs; face painting, games and
prizes for kids; the LADWP Jazz Band; L.A. ZooMobile; and
free refreshments. Families can receive, while supplies
last, one free compact fluorescent bulb, upon completion
of a survey.
Admission: Free to LADWP customers.
