What: In a ceremonial groundbreaking, Los Angeles City College (LACC)
      will unveil the first phase of a comprehensive campus re-design
      and provide details for a new $18 million Student Admission
      Center, the first of several projects to be funded by
      Proposition A, the $1.2 billion bond measure Los Angeles voters
      overwhelmingly approved in April 2001. The Student Admissions
      Center will consolidate the admissions offices into one
      building, making it easier for students to enroll at LACC. The
      Student Admissions Center will be the first sustainable "green"
      building at LACC.

      As part of LACC's $147 million Proposition A-funded renovation,
      the college will also announce plans for a wide range of new
      buildings including the new Student Admissions Center, a new
      Math, Science and Technology Building and a new Health Education
      building and Stadium facilities.

Student Admissions Center

The Student Admissions Center will replace LACC's existing enrollment facilities with a one-stop one-stop
adj.
Relating to or providing a comprehensive selection of goods or services at a single location: one-stop shopping; a one-stop health-care center.
 admissions center that will be designed for a new student intake process, providing a seamless point of entry for LACC students. The college's existing antiquated, paper- driven admissions process are currently housed in separate buildings on the campus, causing confusion and delay for students attempting to enroll. The new Student Admissions Center will create an accessible and convenient admissions process for students and will include the following departments and offices:

The Student Admissions Center will be the first Proposition A project at LACC to be completed. The facility will be located on Heliotrope heliotrope (hē`lēətrōp') [Gr.,=sun-turning] or turnsole, name for any plant that turns to face the sun, especially members of the genus Heliotropium of the family Boraginaceae.  Drive, directly north of the women's physical education building. The project is scheduled to be completed for occupancy in September September: see month.  2004. With a new parking structure adding 580 new parking spaces, the Student Admissions Center will be connected to the parking structure by a bridge.
