SOAs improve an organization's ability to respond to changing business needs and facilitate reuse reuse - Using code developed for one application program in another application. Traditionally achieved using program libraries. Object-oriented programming offers reusability of code via its techniques of inheritance and genericity.  of software development assets (SDAs). Well-abstracted services that provide useful "chunks" of business function aligned with an enterprise roadmap of core strategic business processes are an important part of this picture. These services, coupled with a scalable service-oriented architecture and accompanying development tools, enable the rapid assembly of new business capabilities within the enterprise - enabling companies to leverage software development resources across the enterprise, improve collaboration, decrease software development lifecycles and increase business analyst and programmer productivity.

Attendees will learn about:

-- Concepts and best practices for SOAs;

-- Why software reuse The ability to use software routines over again in new applications. This is one of the benefits of object technology. See object-oriented programming.  is critical to application development and

integration;

-- How Microsoft .NET See .NET.  supports SOA (1) (Start Of Authority) The first record in a DNS zone file. See DNS records.

(2) (Service Oriented Architecture) The modularization of business functions for greater flexibility and reusability.
 standards;

-- A real-world case study of how one company developed an SOA,

partly by leveraging reusable assets; and

-- A demonstration of LogicLibrary's Logidex software development
