                      youth recipient Monica Barney.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: At the age of 6, Monica Barney came to the
Salvation Army Pioneer Corps on Allegheny Avenue
in Kensington as a part of the Sunbeam program
for girls and the afternoon music program. For
Monica, the Salvation Army became a safe haven
and music an avenue for personal achievement and
                      development.

She continued her involvement in the numerous
musical programs offered by the Salvation Army
and is presently participating in the

out of what seems to be a desperate situation.
She has been able to discover the gifts within
her and has begun to share these gifts with
                      others at the Salvation Army.
