Business, News & Entertainment Editors/Political Writers
    ADVISORY...for Thursday (Oct. 19)

    --(BUSINESS WIRE)--
-0-
*T

EVENT: Live Chat on the Web with Actor, Director and Activist
    Christopher Reeve

DATE: October 19, 2000

TIME: 8:00-9:00 p.m., EST

WHERE: AccessLife.com

SUBJECT: How the presidential election will affect the lives of
    Americans with disabilities

NOTES: Actor, Director and Activist Christopher Reeve, perhaps the
most well-known American with a spinal cord injury or disability
will answer questions on and provide insight into this year's
presidential election and its affect on the 56-million Americans
    with disabilities and their caregivers.

Politics play a key role in the everyday lives of Americans with
disabilities. Already this year, the United States Supreme Court
has reviewed Garrett vs. Alabama, a case that may shift some of
the rights gained by people with disabilities 10 years ago through
former President George Bush' signing of the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) to the states. If the Supreme Court rules
in favor of Alabama, this could set the ADA back years. The Court
decision is due in the next few months. And recently, Clint
Eastwood won a court case involving his historic Mission Ranch, a
hotel in Carmel and its accessibility.

Christopher Reeve will only respond to submitted questions from
people on the subject of the presidential election and how it
    relates to people with disabilities.
