Pursuant to the filing of its national class action lawsuit against
Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. and Bridgestone Corporation, Inc. on
August 13, 2002 and its subsequent promise to produce evidence and
documentation in 90 days to demonstrate that the Firestone Steeltex
R4S, R4SII and A/T tire series has major defects, the law firm of
Lisoni & Lisoni will formally petition the U.S. Department of
Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA) on November 15 to reopen the investigation of the tire series
which it suspended on April 9, 2002 for lack of evidence. During the
past three months, the firm has coordinated its own nationwide
investigation and will bring a truckload of documentation to the NHTSA
to support its position.
At 9:30 a.m. on November 15, a News Conference will be held at the
National Press Club in Washington, D.C. at which Lisoni & Lisoni will:
-- Detail the results and findings of its three-month investigation
into the Firestone Steeltex tire series.
-- Produce documentation from some of the more than 5,000 complaints
received from American citizens who have defective tires.
-- Provide an overview of the spread of deaths and injuries across
the U.S. from accidents allegedly caused by Steeltex tires.
-- Display actual tires damaged by tread separation as well as blown
up photographs of other damaged tires and accidents allegedly
caused by them.
-- Introduce a nationally respected authority on tire damage and
failures to analyze and explain why the Steeltex tire series is
allegedly defective and what is the cause.
-- Introduce a representative of PACE Union (Paper, Allied,
Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers/AFL-CIO), who will briefly
detail its battle with Continental Carbon (which provides the
black carbon for the Steeltex tire series) that has resulted in a
lockout of the union.
