-- James A. Ronda, an internationally-recognized Lewis & Clark
scholar and author of "Lewis & Clark: The Army Explores the
West". At 2 p.m.
Mr. Ronda will present "Day of the Pathfinder:
Soldiers-Explorers and the American West".
-- At 2 p.m., the Newfoundland Club of Seattle will be at the
museum to talk about the breed and why it was a good choice of
dog for Lewis & Clark to bring on the expedition.
-- Gary Lentz, park manager of the Lewis & Clark State Trail
Park. Mr.
Lentz will host an 11 a.m. program called "Means of
Subsistence" that examines food eaten on the Lewis & Clark
expedition and a 3:30 p.m. program called "How Much? How Far?"
that looks at the tools that Lewis & Clark used to make maps
and record scientific data uncovered during the expedition.
-- Puget Sound residents and visitors enjoying the Presidents Day
holiday.
WHAT: Will help officially open the first of four major Lewis &
Clark bicentennial exhibits taking place at the WSHM during
2004-2005. The first exhibit, entitled "Beyond Lewis & Clark:
The Army Explores the West" chronicles an 80 year period of
expeditions beginning with Lewis & Clark and ending with
George A. Custer.

COST: The event and exhibit are open to the public at a cost of $7
for adults, $6.50 for seniors and $5 for students. Children

TO GET Follow the I-705/City Center signs to 21st Street and turn
THERE: right onto Pacific Avenue. The museum parking lot is
located on Pacific Avenue near the group entrance.
