What: The League board of directors will ask city delegates to
vote on a resolution laying out the conditions under which
the League could support a budget recovery package that
includes local revenue "contributions", debt financing and
a temporary tax increase dedicated to retiring short-term
debt.
This extraordinary meeting of the League's General
Assembly is unprecedented in the League's 105-year
history. It was called for by the board of directors in
recognition that city officials' status as elected
representatives gives them a special responsibility and
role to play in the state's budget crisis.
