WHY: With more than 700,000 travelers expected to pass through
LAX between Friday and Monday, the Memorial Day weekend
will be the busiest travel period at LAX since September
11. Airport officials forecast that LAX will serve
approximately 16.2 million passengers from June through
August. Many passengers will be returning to the airways
for the first time since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks
and will be greeted with new services.
