Arenberg, at the association's Miami records center, said, "It seems fitting that the Michael the Archangel Award be presented by an actor named 'Law,' whose father was a law officer, who has portrayed officers himself, and who continues to be well-known for his 1967 role as the angel opposite Jane Fonda in 'Barbarella.'" The series was selected for the honor by a poll of NACOP's board of directors. "LAPD: Life on the Beat" is only the second effort honored with a Michael the Archangel Award. NACOP intends to expand its Michael the Archangel Award program -- named in honor of the patron saint of police officers -- and hopes in 2,000 to sponsor Hollywood ceremonies at which more than a dozen such awards will be presented in numerous entertainment categories. Since 1960, NACOP has been the leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to research of line-of-duty deaths and related issues, as well as assistance to family survivors.
