WHAT: Presentation of banner announcing formal adoption of school;
City Councilmember will present congratulatory remarks;
Students present large card, thankful poem and cheer to LADWP;
School staff will discuss actions to take for a clean
environment. Adoption centers on environmental awareness and
literacy incentive projects involving LADWP employees from the
Environmental Affairs Group and other community partners.

BACKGROUND:
Adopt-A-School is a specialized partnership emphasizing
employee involvement that includes reading to students, giving
presentations to classes on a variety of subjects, and
providing additional resources to enhance the instructional
program. In Los Angeles more than 1000 companies, non-profit
organizations and governmental agencies have adopted more than
80% of LAUSD schools.
