What: The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and the
Los Angeles Dodgers are teaming up to bring Dodger Jams to
Markham Middle School in South Los Angeles. Dodger Jams is a
school assembly featuring a motivational session with Dodger
infielder Ron Coomer and Dodger legend Bobby Castillo,
immediately followed by live music and performances that appeal
to middle school youngsters. This community outreach program
recognizes the young leaders for their achievements both in and
outside of the classroom and focuses on the theme of T.E.A.M.
(Teamwork, Effort, Attitude and Motivation).
The program will begin with the motivational session. The LADWP
Water Wise exhibit will also be on-hand to educate the kids
about water conservation and the wise use of electricity during
the summer months. Members of the LADWP Speakers Bureau will
staff the exhibit.
