WHAT: Twelfth Annual LADWP Science Bowl, a quiz show style
high school competition centered on complex college-level
math, science and technology questions. LADWP Science
Bowl, the nation's most successful regional competition in
U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl program.
Local teams have won four national titles and placed in
top four, seven times since 1995. The Franklin Lu Hands-On
Competition will also be held in the afternoon. Hands-On
event named for late employee volunteer.

WHY: Science Bowl seeks to showcase talents of local high
school scholars, enhance student achievement by providing
motivation and incentive for success, and to encourage
students of all backgrounds to pursue studies and careers
in math, science and technology fields. A total of 66
regional competitions are held in 40 states, nine in
California.
NOTE: Parking and entrance off of First Street all day
