350 Contest Posters Displayed at LADWP Headquarters Through May 30

Award Ceremony -- Auditorium; Reception -- Cafeteria
Who: Participating Students, Teachers, and Administrators from
schools throughout the city of Los Angeles. Speakers include:
-- Monica Rodriguez, Deputy; Board of Education President
Caprice Young
-- Lillian Kawasaki, LADWP Assistant General Manager,
Environmental Affairs and Economic Development
-- Angelina Galiteva, LADWP Director of Green LA
-- Two students, Talya S. from Mayall St. School and
Adriana W. from San Pedro High School, describe their
winning posters
-- Two teachers, Lorraine Quan from Mayall St. School and
Karen Nichols from Reseda High School, explain effective
instructional techniques
What: Certificates and prizes will be awarded to 50 students and
teachers in six categories covering grades K-12 in Los
Angeles public, private and parochial schools. The art
exhibition includes displays of 45 winning posters exhibited
around the spiral staircase and more than 300 posters on
display in the cafeteria. The winning posters will be on
display at LADWP through the end of June. All posters will be
displayed through the end of May.
The posters assist LADWP by enhancing messages and
communications efforts about the Green LA Programs to
customers. Winning student art is incorporated into
calendars, note cards, posters, bookmarks, displays and
banners. Winning posters for the past four years can be
viewed online at www.GreenLA.com.
Visuals: 350 mounted brightly colored posters. About 300 participants
will attend the event. Visual shots include students with
posters, audience viewing posters, students and teachers
discussing the art and the environmental themes.
